One of the country’s premier homebuilders has officially set up shop in Bridgeport.
D.R. Horton celebrated its first location in West Virginia with a ribbon cutting on Wednesday at one of the company’s model homes in Charles Pointe. The ribbon cutting was proceeded by a luncheon, with Genesis Partners serving as hosts, welcoming D.R. Horton to the state.
Several local and state delegates and officials attended both the luncheon and the ribbon cutting including West Virginia Secretary of State Kris Warner and West Virginia Department of Commerce Secretary Matt Herridge.
“I’ve got to start first with just Jennifer and Jamie Corton,” Warner said. “This is a world-class planned unit development. They utilized the TIF district and that attracts world-class talent and that’s what you got for affordable housing with D.R. Horton.
“This is a great opportunity to have the first real landing place for D.R. Horton in West Virginia.”
D.R. Horton built more than 75,000 homes in 2024 alone. The number of homes built since the company began in 1978 is one million.
“We are very excited about being in West Virginia and what we can do here,” said Brian Scheetz, D.R. Horton Vice President of Operations for Pittsburgh and West Virginia markets. “We have been successful this year in a short amount of time and looking to expand that for future growth.”
